Where do I fit my infrared heater? Ideally the heater should be fixed high on a sturdy wall. But, firstly make sure that your logcabin is as well insulated as possible and free from draughts.
Do I need a specialist to fit it for me? No, all heaters come with a flex, plug and screw fixings at the back. However, if you want your heater to look really stylish we recommend you get a qualified electrician to permanently fix the heater into the wall and chisel in the wiring then fit a room thermostat and timer which will give you full control of your heating.
How much will it cost to run? A 1kw heater will take in 1kw of energy to provide 1kw of heat, there is no wasted energy in fans or lights and no loss of heat with pipes or covers. Please refer to your energy supplier for your current electricity tariff per hour. Heating costs will vary on other factors too, such as the quality of the double glazing in the windows, the insulation properties of the building material and how exposed the log cabin or workshop is to extremes of weather.
Is the heater safe to use with children around? Yes, the heater will be high on the wall so it should not receive any accidental damage by children. The surface will only get as hot as any other radiator in the house, if touched you would soon pull your hand away.
Will the heater need any maintenance or servicing? No, there are no parts to be serviced unlike conventional boilers and radiators, a simple wipe down with a damp cloth will be sufficient.
I am trying to do my bit for the environment, is infrared environmentally friendly? Infrared is one of the most energy efficient ways to keep you warm when in the log cabin or workshop. Our panels are designed to warm you first and not the air, whilst standard radiators and fan heaters will heat the air which is then lost through windows and open doors.
